Lexus

Male · Adult · 6 years

Lexus is a little dog with a protruding lower jaw, a perpetually hungry stomach and a huge heart. All of this in a small, under 10-kilogram body, covered in soft fur. When his siblings were waiting for intelligence, Lexus was busy nursing from his mother. That's why his brain remains as small as a puppy's. After a thorough diagnosis, we know that Lex has a rare developmental disorder that he will never make up for. It's called lissencephaly. In all of this, Lex is lucky because he only has some symptoms: he is more sensitive to stimuli, a bit yappy, learns at his own pace and in his own way, and needs stable living conditions. But none of this prevents him from being a sweet, carefree, and social little pup with a big appetite for life. Currently, Lex is in a foster home, where we are discovering his abilities and limitations. Today we know that: • He can charmingly play with a toy or even just a paper bag from the bakery. • Gently petted, he affectionately rests his head on your hand. He enjoys every kind gesture from a human and makes progress every day. • With a regulated daily routine, he can maintain cleanliness and be left alone at home. And rest with his belly up in a quiet, well-placed bed. • He can calm down, unless it's time to prepare a meal - then he has more to say 😉 But he also bravely sits and waits patiently for his food. • He knows and understands a leash, loves walks in the forest, where he sniffs a lot, gladly runs and chases, but also follows the caregiver. • He is curious about other dogs, although he can be persistent. He generally shows respect towards larger, more serious older dogs, unfortunately, he doesn't always understand "no" in dog language, and requires supervision during interactions. • Sometimes he can't handle his emotions and may bark for reasons only he knows, which could disturb neighbors in an apartment building. • We also see that city traffic and noise don't suit Lex. He loves the freedom that a dog gets when allowed to walk without a leash and run around the yard. But we can't let a dog so sensitive to new stimuli roam freely in the city. We are looking for a home for Lex in a quiet area, with even a small garden. And people who don't have high expectations of the dog, but have a caring heart, to do good. We do not recommend Lex for a home with small children and smaller dogs. It's easiest to calm down as a solo dog, but we think he would adapt well in a home with a larger, calmer dog - just like he currently lives. Who will fall in love with our clumsy little pup?

Lexus składa się z pyszczka z wysuniętą dolną szczęką, wiecznie głodnego żołądka i ogromnego serduszka. Wszystko to w małym, niespełna 10-kilowym ciałku, pokrytym miękkim futerkiem. I odpoczywać z brzuszkiem do góry w zacisznie położonym legowisku.

About Lexus

What life with Lexus looks like

Lexus is a small adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Lissencephaly (smooth brain) - rare developmental disorder causing sensitivity to stimuli, learning difficulties, requires stable environment and supervision

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lexus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lexus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lexus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lexus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lexus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lexus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lexus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
