Lexya

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 11 years

✨ Lexya, a small female dog with a big heart 🐾 Lexya is a small female dog who has only known pain and loneliness, which have deeply marked her body and soul. Born in October 2015, Lexya is a Pit who arrived at the animal shelter in pitiful condition. However, today, as you can see, she is a beautiful small female dog. Her desire for affection and being close to you is immense. Over time, she has changed a lot, now she is peaceful despite everything she has been through, she has a better chance of life, a hope that, however, seems never to arrive. 🌈 Lexya has suffered a lot in her short life. But despite the wounds of the past, she found the strength to rise again and bloom once more. 💖 She loves to walk outdoors and finally feel carefree. 🐕 She is grateful for every small gesture of affection she receives and knows how to return unconditional love. Lexya would be the perfect companion for someone special who knows how to love and respect her, someone who really wants to change her destiny 🏡 Come meet her at our animal shelter in Castel Volturno and you will see with your own eyes how special she is. Lexya is given as an only child in Naples, Caserta and surroundings, after a careful pre-adoption placement.

❌ NO vita solo in giardino ❌ NO box ❌ NO garage

About Lexya

What life with Lexya looks like

Lexya is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Rifugio San Francesco in Italy.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lexya, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lexya?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Rifugio San Francesco handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lexya on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lexya if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Rifugio San Francesco will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lexya already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lexya isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Rifugio San Francesco early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lexya and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
