Libre

Male · Kitten · 7 months

Libre is a young tomcat who arrived at the shelter with his siblings. He is currently in the cat hospital, where he is under the careful care of doctors and undergoing a full diagnostic examination. The new situation is a big challenge for him. Libre is still withdrawn and cautious, and the shelter reality clearly overwhelms him. He needs time to get used to the environment and convince himself that nothing threatens him. He will best find himself with a patient caregiver who will allow him to build a sense of security at his own pace. He is a sensitive tomcat who most needs peace and stability today. We believe that in a quiet, loving home, he will gradually gain confidence and with each passing day will become bolder in opening up to humans. We are looking for a loving forever home for Libre. One where he will receive care, understanding and the time needed to build trust. We invite you to read the pre-adoption questionnaire and come to the shelter with the questionnaire already filled out: Please note: When deciding on the adoption of a cat or considering it, be sure to take a transporter or transport bag for cats with you to the shelter. Before adoption, make sure your home / apartment is safe and properly prepared to receive a new family member. Remember to secure windows and balcony. If you have a resident cat, bring test results for FIV and FeLV.

Pamiętaj, żeby zabezpieczyć okna i balkon. Jeśli masz kota rezydenta, zabierz ze sobą wyniki testów FIV i FeLV.

About Libre

What life with Libre looks like

Libre is a small puppy/kitten cat waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Libre, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Libre?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Libre on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Libre if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Libre already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Libre isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Libre and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
