Lila

Female · Adult · 5 years

Life hasn’t treated Lilia fairly. This fluffy, black-and-white kitten lives with a mobility impairment. She has trouble with her legs, making it difficult for her to walk. Nevertheless, she continues to enjoy life, loving to bask in the sun and relax in quiet, peaceful places. Lilia gets along well with other cats, but she needs socialization with people. At the shelter, she’s made tremendous progress in this area, yet she still doesn’t allow physical contact. She tolerates being brushed quite well—and sometimes even lets you gently stroke her back with your fingertips—but any attempt to approach her face could result in a swat of her paw or a scratch. Before any initial contact, Lilia should get acquainted with a new person’s scent by sniffing the person’s finger. All attempts to interact with the cat should be made calmly and patiently. Lilia needs a home where she’ll be understood and accepted for who she is. Lilia’s owner should be aware of the challenges she faces due to her disability—such as difficulties jumping and maintaining balance—as well as her mistrust. Lilia values peace and quiet, so she’d feel most comfortable in a family without children.

PL·Show original

Lilię życie nie potraktowało sprawiedliwie. Ta puszysta, czarno-biała kotka mierzy się z niepełnosprawnością ruchową. Ma problemy z nóżkami, dlatego chodzenie sprawia jej trudność. Jednakże wciąż cieszy się życiem, lubiąc wygrzewać się w Słońcu i odpoczywać w spokojnych miejscach. Lilia dobrze toleruje inne koty, lecz wymaga socjalizacji z ludźmi.

About Lila

What life with Lila looks like

Lila is a small adult cat waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu in Poznan.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lila, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lila?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lila on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lila if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lila already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lila isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lila and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
