Lilja

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Virginia Georgieva born: ca. April 2024 Sex: female Location: Bulgaria spayed: yes FIV test: negative FeLV test: negative Handicaps: none compatible with: children: unknown cats: yes dogs: unknown Requirements: NO single housing only indoor housing, NO outdoor access balcony or terrace desirable (if available, securing is required) Lilja lived on the street and gave birth to two kittens there. She had to care for her small family under difficult conditions. There was no protection, regular food or a safe retreat for her. Nevertheless, she took care of her little ones as best she could until the family was finally discovered. Fortunately, help came in time, because without support their future would have been uncertain. Virginia took the little cat family into the shelter with her, where Lilja could finally raise her kittens safely. At Virginia's shelter, Lilja switched to cuddle mode from day one. She is affectionate, a real cuddly cat and loves to seek out her humans. It's hard to believe that this pretty, affectionate girl spent her whole life on the street - she's much too open and people-oriented for that. Maybe she had loving hands that stroked her before? Lilja also shows her best side in the cat group: She is friendly, social and gets along with everyone. Lilja seems to know exactly how to wrap people around her finger - with a few loving glances, a bit of charm and lots of cuddling. Now all she needs are the right people who can let her live out all that every day.

About Lilja

What life with Lilja looks like

Lilja is a large young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lilja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lilja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lilja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lilja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lilja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lilja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lilja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
