Lilly

Pointer · Female

Lilly is an 8½-month-old girl with a friendly, gentle nature and so much to offer her future family. She’s an affectionate mixed-breed resembling Pointer, Labrador & more, who is eager to learn and would love a home where she can grow in confidence. She currently weighs 17.5kg, and we estimate she may reach around 23kg when fully grown, making her a medium-sized adult dog. Lilly is good with other dogs and tends to take a submissive approach when meeting them. We think she would really blossom in a home with a confident playmate who could offer companionship. We think she would thrive in a young, active home. She has also passed her cat test, which is an encouraging sign for a potential home with cats. As with any new arrival, careful introductions and supervision would still be needed to help everyone settle comfortably. We’re looking for adopters who will give Lilly time to find her feet, encourage her gently and include her in everyday life. A compatible, confident resident dog could make a particularly lovely match. With companionship, patient guidance and plenty of affection, Lilly has every opportunity to flourish. Most of our dogs have been found abandoned as young pups, discarded as unwanted litters, as is often the case in Portugal where neutering is not as common as in the UK. After rescue, all of our pups spend time in private shelters and foster homes, meaning they arrive happy, healthy and well socialised. UK Registered Charity Number 1183775

About Lilly

What life with Lilly looks like

Lilly is a medium-sized adult pointer dog waiting at Dogs N Homes Rescue in London.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lilly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lilly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs N Homes Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lilly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lilly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs N Homes Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Lilly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lilly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs N Homes Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lilly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
