Lilo

European Shorthair · Female

Lilo, also affectionately known as Ginger, is a beautiful and independent cat. She comes from a household with multiple cats and, at 1.5 years old, has already been a mother. At our foster home in Bergisch Gladbach, she has shown that she no longer wants to interact with other cats. She also avoids her children whenever possible. She is slowly warming up, but needs some time to build trust. As she is used to being outdoors, we are looking for a quiet home without young children in a suitable area where outdoor access is possible. Lilo has her quirks: she shows what she likes and what she doesn't like. The new home should have some experience with stubborn beauties on soft paws. Then she will continue to develop well. Lilo is spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, tested negative for FIV and FeLV, and of course microchipped.

About Lilo

What life with Lilo looks like

Lilo is an adult european shorthair cat waiting at Straßenkatzen Köln e.V. in Köln.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lilo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lilo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Straßenkatzen Köln e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lilo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lilo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Straßenkatzen Köln e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Lilo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lilo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Straßenkatzen Köln e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lilo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
