Adopt LILOU

Mixed Breed · Female

Our cute Grayish LILOU is a wonderful velvety paw with a very loving and social personality. Unfortunately, she is always overlooked because she does not push herself to the forefront and is also shy with strangers at first. Once she is settled in, she is a loyal, gentle roommate who always likes to watch what her people are doing and is happy to cuddle at any time. She also makes wonderful butzepfötchen and then kneepfötchen. A wonderful velvety paw that merely needs a little time to settle in and is happy about every day she is not pressured. She came all by herself. LILOU gets along very well with other cats; she even shares the food bowl with others. However, she is more of a quiet nature; her younger foster mates sometimes overwhelm her in the heat of the moment. She would like to have a slightly more quiet companion in her new home; she can also complete a trio with a couple. If someone is home a lot or works mainly from home and thus has a lot of time for her velvety paw, she can also move in as a single cat. But then she definitely needs a free run in a good, quiet, and green area without nearby busy streets. If she lives with a companion, a well-secured garden or a beautiful large outdoor enclosure, a green and enclosed courtyard, etc., would also suffice. If you are interested in our dear little tiger girl, please contact us via our contact form or directly by email. You can also reach us by phone (also WhatsApp). A brief note about yourself: Please include a phone number with your inquiry, and if for a free run, also your address, and introduce yourself and the new home briefly. We present our cats to the best of our knowledge and conscience. Many thanks! When you click on the photo, the view enlarges.

About LILOU

What life with LILOU looks like

LILOU is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Katzenzuflucht e.V. in Much.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting LILOU, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about LILOU?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Katzenzuflucht e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw LILOU on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt LILOU if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Katzenzuflucht e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is LILOU already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if LILOU isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Katzenzuflucht e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know LILOU and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
