Adopt Lime

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

Hi there! 🐢 My name is Lime, and I am a Chinese spur-thighed tortoise looking for my very own peaceful home. How I ended up at our shelter is a bit of a mystery. I was found alone outside, which is not a place a tortoise like me should be. Thankfully, I was taken care of, and now I am ready to find a permanent home where I can live a good tortoise life. I am a healthy and beautiful lady estimated to be over three years old. My appetite is at its peak, and I enjoy spending my days exactly how tortoises like to: basking around in peace and quiet. I am not particularly social and thrive best with calm surroundings and minimal handling. Even though I can swim, I actually prefer to pad around on the ground. I also enjoy climbing up onto land to bask under UVB light for an hour or two. My new home must have a large aquarium of around 1000 liters, with both water and land areas. I also need UVB light, proper diet with good calcium supply, and an enclosure that promotes healthy and strong scales!

About Lime

What life with Lime looks like

Lime is a senior mixed breed rabbit waiting at Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo in Oslo.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇳🇴Adopting from Norway

Norwegian rescues require thorough background checks. Animals leave with a Nordic pet passport and full vetting. Norway is outside the EU so import rules differ slightly — TRACES applies.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lime, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lime?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lime on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lime if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lime already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lime isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lime and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NO). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
