Age (Years): >1Year Of Birth: Oct 2025In Shelter Since: Mar 2026. Sex: Female. Breed: Mixed breed. Colour: Black. Size: Small to medium. Weight (Kgs): Approx 15kg. Good With Children? No. Good With Other Dogs? Yes. Good With Cats? UntestedEnergy Level: .Temperament: Sweet and shyExperienced Owners Only: Needs time to understand she is safe. Neutered: Yes. Vaccinated: Yes. Microchipped: Yes At just six months old, Lina had already endured a lot of pain and suffering. After being hit by a car, she lay terrified beneath a parked van, unable to move. For seven long days she remained there, frightened and in agony, until she was finally found. She was so scared that she had to be gently sedated before she could be rescued and rushed to the vet. The news was heart breaking. Lina had suffered not one, but two pelvic fractures. One injury was fresh, while the other was older, showing she had been hit before and somehow survived. Emergency surgery gave her the best chance possible, and although she will always have some lasting effects from her injuries, the operation relieved the pressure on her pelvis, allowing her to toilet normally and giving her the opportunity to walk comfortably again as she continues to heal. Despite everything she has been through, Lina is the sweetest little girl. She is still learning that people can be kind, and she needs a little time to understand that no one will ever hurt her again. Every day her confidence grows, and beneath her understandable caution is a gentle, loving puppy who simply wants to feel safe.

About Lina

What life with Lina looks like

Lina is a small puppy/kitten dog waiting at Hope VMS / Elaines Dogs in Bosnia.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope VMS / Elaines Dogs handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hope VMS / Elaines Dogs will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope VMS / Elaines Dogs early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
