Adopt Lina

Podenco · Female · Adult · 7 years

S.P.A.P. Kimba Shelter Input 14 October 2025: Lina is a friendly, outgoing dog who is very affectionate towards people - she even greets strangers warmly. She is especially happy when she is petted: she lies on her back submissively and enjoys it thoroughly. She has a great need for contact with people. Other dogs are not so important to her. Nevertheless, she communicates well with other dogs. If something becomes too much for her, she clearly and politely shows it - by softly growling or retreating. Lina likes to play, loves walking, and especially enjoys the cozy moments afterwards on the couch. Typical of a Podenco, she is sensitive, but also very funny: when she is excited - for example, before going for a walk or when greeting someone - she makes funny noises that melt your heart. Her famous "five-minute energy outbursts" are simply adorable! What else you should know about Lina: • Lina has leishmaniasis, which requires regular treatment. • She is possessive about food - a little management helps with that. • When she is being petted and other dogs approach, she can react a bit jealous. However, she gets along well with other dogs, as long as her needs are respected and communication is good. • Lina was found by the current foster family and now lives there. Who will give this lovely girl a warm hand?

About Lina

What life with Lina looks like

Lina is a medium-sized adult podenco dog waiting at description in AL Ridderkerk.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. description handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — description will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with description early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
