Adopt Mufasa

Podenco · Male · Young · 2 years

This is our cheerful podenco Mufasa. Mufasa came to us as a stray dog. Unfortunately, the owner was no longer able to take care of him, so we are looking for a new home for him. Mufasa is a cheerful medium-sized dog of almost 3 years old. Right now, he still finds it very exciting in the animal shelter. Because of this, he is a bit selective about which people he allows and who he doesn't yet. He is now getting more used to his surroundings, and his cheerful and playful nature is coming out more and more. This sweetie loves to play nicely on the meadow with a soccer ball or tennis ball, and also likes to sit next to you for cuddles. During walks, he still moves from left to right a lot, but he walks nicely with you and sometimes looks back to see where you are. He can react quite strongly to other dogs while walking. From a distance, he just looks at them, but when they come closer, he finds it a bit exciting and starts barking. Does Mufasa sound like the dog for you? Then fill in his form below quickly!

About Mufasa

What life with Mufasa looks like

Mufasa is a medium-sized young adult podenco dog waiting at Hokazo in Uden.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mufasa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mufasa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hokazo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mufasa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mufasa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hokazo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mufasa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mufasa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hokazo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mufasa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
