Lino

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 20 years

Once a Podenco, always a Podenco! That's something you often hear. Our dear Lino is a classic representative of his breed and a dog for true Podi enthusiasts. He is curious and open, adventurous and full of energy. A sporty little fellow with compact dimensions. Due to his kindness and gentleness, the shelter staff have already taken a liking to him. Although Podencos are active outdoors, they usually behave quietly and unobtrusively at home. One can feel their presence and their pleasant calming aura. Podi people report about gifted bed sleepers, Podis that snuggle together even in the tightest dog bed, and happy doggies as soon as the human-dog pack is out or snuggling on the couch. Outdoors, the Podenco is active and ready for anything. Even Lino. After endless long and boring shelter days, Lino is led out on a leash to make the attached video of him. Of course, he naturally wants to go forward, just wanting to run, sniff, look, and run again. The shelter staff deeply regret that they cannot offer Lino what a young, active dog needs. They could give Lino a temporary home, having rescued him from the dusty country road where he had wandered aimlessly, hungry, and thirsty. But now they wish for Lino a forever home in a family that loves him and recognizes his needs. Lino gets along well with all the other dogs in the shelter, is a real dog buddy, and would also be happy in his new home with dog company. His new people should be eager to be outdoors and also ready to practice the little dog lesson with Lino. Lino has a big heart to give. In his friendly, outgoing manner, he will quickly bond with his new people. © 2006-2024 by animal welfare association Europa e.V.

Einmal Podenco – immer Podenco! © 2006-2024 by Tierschutzverein Europa e.V. - All rights reserved

About Lino

What life with Lino looks like

Lino is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
