adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this dog! The charming Lio, with his long legs and sweet overbite, traveled to his foster home in Mengkofen and is settling in well. Lio is a real treasure and a true dream dog. He gets along great with the first dogs in his foster family and wants to do everything right. Despite his time in the shelter, he is brave and full of energy. He wants to make up for lost time and learn everything a dog needs to know. Lio loves his soft bed and the green grass under his paws. And he enjoys the long cuddling sessions. With his overbite, Lio is a true one-of-a-kind, making him unmistakable. He has no limitations. Character-wise, he is very social, playful, doesn't bark, is calm but also ready for long excursions, like into the mountains. He likes to go for rides on a bicycle, is attentive, and listens well when called. He avoids conflicts. Lio wishes for a second dog in the new family, as he is very oriented towards other dogs. He is always friendly and likes women 🙂 Originally from Bistrita, Romania, Lio was unfortunately one of our long-term residents. His entire adolescence was spent behind bars, which must have been unbearable for a young male dog. Lio is just about 5 years old and has his whole life ahead of him. His size is estimated at around 55cm, making him a medium, slender pup. When the feisty Amanda was still in the shelter, she often visited him in the yard and simply laid down in his lap. This pleased him because it gave him social contact and spared him from being alone. For Lio, we are looking for a quiet home where he can settle in at his own pace. We wish for him a patient, friendly, and loving home with people who have no expectations of him and who are not intimidated by setbacks. Children should be old enough and know how to handle dogs with respect and responsibility. Lio wishes for a more rural home with plenty of retreat possibilities. Regular routines and rituals are very important for Lio, as they provide security and stability. He also does well on a leash and looks forward to his walks. Lio enjoys beautiful walks and cuddle sessions on the sofa. A visit to a positively working dog training class or dog sports, like mantrailing or agility, would surely bring him much joy. Our handsome Lio is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He has his EU pet passport and is ready to go home. Who will give our handsome Lio a loving home? Many thanks to Anna-Lena Z.! You gave Lio his name! Date: 30.11.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Vielen Dank Anna-Lena Z.! Du hast Lio seinen Namen geschenkt! Stand: 30.11.2025

About Lio

What life with Lio looks like

Lio is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lio, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lio?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lio on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lio if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lio already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lio isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lio and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
