Lisa

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Breed: mixed-breed female dog Age: born around 03/2023 Huhu… I am Lisa… a brown mixed-breed female dog, about knee-high, with a very special appearance: maybe a bit Dachshund, maybe a bit German Shepherd – and with large, soft ears somewhere between folded and droopy… but our caretakers say it’s my eyes that touch immediately… my sad gaze tells stories that nobody will ever know… Together with my four babies, I was seized and brought to the animal shelter… Since then, I try every day to understand a little more that no one here wants to hurt me… Still, sometimes I get scared of human hands… Then I prefer to retreat and observe everything from a safe distance… but I learn this clumsy ease from my little ones and try to do the same… When I realize I am safe, my little heart opens up very carefully… Then I come closer, let myself be petted, and show how loving I actually am… Deep down, all I wish for is to finally find a place… Most of all, I love my babies… I take good care of them and devote myself to them with great dedication… our caretakers say that I am a great mom and also very loving, grateful, and humble… I enjoy quiet closeness in my own cautious way… You already know my story, now I hope for a better future… Maybe out there is someone who sees not only the past in my sad eyes – but also hope… Hope that someday a new life will begin for me too… A quiet home… A soft dog bed… Loving hands that I no longer need to fear… Perhaps I may finally experience what it feels like to be truly loved… I look forward to meeting you… Before I travel to my new home, I will be neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. Anyone who wishes to adopt me should please contact my mediators.

About Lisa

What life with Lisa looks like

Lisa is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. in Hamburg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lisa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lisa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lisa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lisa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lisa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lisa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lisa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
