Adopt Lissi

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

Lissi Breed: mixed breed Age: 06/01/2018 Gender: female (spayed) Size: M (approx. 40cm-50cm shoulder height) In the animal shelter since: 04/18/2026 Our enchanting Lissi is initially skeptical of strangers, but once you have won her heart, she is the perfect companion. Her owner unfortunately became seriously ill and could no longer take care of the little one, so she came to us. We also had to work a bit to earn her trust. But now we can really only say, it's worth it! Lissi is the perfect combination of bouncy energy and cuddly pet. She loves being active and moving around outside, but she also enjoys snuggling with her people. When it comes to other dogs, it depends on whether they get along, but generally, she would rather be an only princess. Cats and small animals should not be in her future home. Similarly, she is not a dog for children or households with lots of child visitors. The basic requirement is to visit her several days in a row at the beginning, so that she can warm up to you. Also, don't let her initial dislike put you off. This lady wants you to win her heart. Experience with dogs should, of course, also be present.

About Lissi

What life with Lissi looks like

Lissi is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutz Osterode in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lissi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lissi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Osterode handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lissi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lissi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Osterode will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lissi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lissi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Osterode early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lissi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
