Liv (Einzelkatze)

European Shorthair · Female · Young · 2 years

Liv came to our shelter with her two kittens. As a caring mother cat, she lovingly raised her little ones until they were old enough to move into their new home together. Now, Liv is ready for her own fresh start. After being spayed and tested negative for FeLV and FIV, Liv moved into one of our adoption rooms. She has settled in well there and is showing us more clearly what she needs for her future home. Liv is a calm, sensitive, and rather reserved cat. She is initially cautious around strangers and in unfamiliar situations, preferring to observe from a safe distance. She needs time to build trust and does not want to be rushed. Once she has met a person and built trust, she gradually allows closeness. We are therefore looking for patient and empathetic people for Liv who will give her the time she needs to settle into her new home. Liv should not be expected to be affectionate and cuddly from day one - trust must grow slowly with Liv. Having settled well into her adoption room, she is also making it clear that she would prefer to do without the company of other cats. She feels more comfortable without fellow cats and does not want to share her future home and her people with another cat. Liv will therefore only be placed as a single cat. Since Liv originally lived outside, we are looking for a home for her in a quiet and low-traffic residential area, where she can enjoy her freedom and explore her surroundings after a suitable period of adjustment. We wish for Liv a quiet home with people who understand her sensitive nature, respect her boundaries, and give her the necessary patience. Those who give her the chance to build trust at her own pace will experience how she gradually comes out of her shell.

About Liv (Einzelkatze)

What life with Liv (Einzelkatze) looks like

Liv (Einzelkatze) is a large young adult european shorthair cat waiting at BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Liv (Einzelkatze), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Liv (Einzelkatze)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Liv (Einzelkatze) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Liv (Einzelkatze) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Liv (Einzelkatze) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Liv (Einzelkatze) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof early rather than rehoming privately; they know Liv (Einzelkatze) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
