Adopt Liz (HSH)

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

Freundlich und clingy bei ihren trusted people, wird Fremden gegenüber möglicherweise wachsam Anmerkungen: Liz – Wachsame Beschützerin sucht passendes Zuhause Liz, an impressive Central Asian Owtscharka-female, looking for a responsible and experienced home. Liz is very clingy and cuddly with her trusted people. At the animal shelter, she greets strangers with friendliness, but it's important to know that she is typically very watchful and this behavior could be more pronounced in her own home. Liz lived in a group with other dogs previously. Dog interactions on the leash are still a learning field for Liz. If she feels provoked, she can be assertive, and the new owner must be firm and confident in guiding her through these encounters. Therefore, we are looking for people who are willing to patiently and consistently train her. It seems likely that she simply hasn't learned much in her past. This shows that herding dogs like Liz are not cheap alarm systems but need connection to their people, training, and daily situations to be happy. We know little about Liz's past, except that she arrived with us in a very poor condition. She was emaciated and neglected. Now, she has recovered well and shows her strong character. We are looking for experienced dog owners, ideally with herding dog experience, who can offer Liz a safe, loving, and consistent home. An enclosed yard or property where she can stay and be watched would be great. But there must be enough contact with her people. Liz is not suitable for the city; she is looking for a home outside. This animal can be anxious in unfamiliar situations. Gets along with other dogs.

About Liz (HSH)

What life with Liz (HSH) looks like

Liz (HSH) is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Ludwigsburg in Ludwigsburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Liz (HSH), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Liz (HSH)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Ludwigsburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Liz (HSH) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Liz (HSH) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Ludwigsburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Liz (HSH) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Liz (HSH) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Ludwigsburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Liz (HSH) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
