Liza

Female · Senior · 9 years

Little Jamniczka Liza had to reorganize her world 😥 Everything she knew so far - a warm home, kind hands and a caregiver exclusively - disappeared, and Liza ended up in an animal shelter - a place full of barking and various smells. She became one of the homeless dogs. She was very affected by it - she cried in the cage and begged for attention. She was very unhappy. It's hard to say everything has passed, but the brave girl accepted the situation and is adapting to it. She loves people very much, is a real clingy person and waits for our visits in the cage. She likes to walk in the park, walks quite nicely on a leash. Sometimes she circles around us, as if checking if any dog competition is approaching 😅 Liza barks at other dogs along the way and is a determined individual when it comes to eating - she thinks that everything that smells deliciously meaty belongs only to her. She can get along with other dogs, also likes to be in charge among other dogs - she is a decisive leader type. She would probably get along with a balanced resident dog. We would very much like Liz's stay at the animal shelter not to be prolonged, she certainly wouldn't cope best with that. She is a compact, older lover of sofas and knees, knows the household routine. Who will hug the dog girl?

PL·Show original

About Liza

What life with Liza looks like

Liza is a small senior dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Separation anxiety and adjustment issues from recent surrender

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Liza, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Liza?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Liza on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Liza if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Liza already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Liza isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Liza and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
