Adopt Liza

Mixed Breed · Male

Breed: mixed-breed female dog Age: born around 03/2020 Hello, my name is Liza. I am a young adult mixed-breed female dog and have grown to be of medium size. I have short black fur with a white accent on my chest and look somewhat like a Labrador … without actually being one. I have a sturdy but also athletic build, carry cute floppy ears, and have beautiful brown eyes. I am a loving and especially clingy creature, I love to snuggle and am crazy about loving people! I obey very well without really having been trained … the topic of puppy lessons is definitely something I would love to tackle with you! I am really athletic and am therefore looking for my own kind in human form. With male dogs, I get along very well, but with female dogs, it’s a different story, I’m really sometimes a little stinky. Oh, and my food … that is also something I hold dear, I honestly don’t share it so easily. The shelter workers found me at the euthanasia station. We were immediately in agreement: since no one belongs here, I shouldn’t end up there either … so we made my move clear and I have been transferred to the animal shelter. I want to make my home with your family a permanent vacation! Good mood, a loving interaction with people and me, Liza, right in the middle! I dream of snuggling into your stroking hands, feeling light because all worries have flown from my life. A home is where my heart feels loved and can also love! Well, I still have a lot to learn … but that applies to all of us and everyone starts where they are and learns later anyway. (Wisdom by Liza) My hobbies are playing, running to my heart’s content, being curious, going for walks, and having fun. If you are also such sunbeams, then please contact my handlers. They are all very friendly and will give you lots of information about me and the adoption process. Before I move into my new home, I will be neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. If you would like to adopt me, please contact my handlers.

About Liza

What life with Liza looks like

Liza is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. in Hamburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Liza, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Liza?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Liza on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Liza if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Liza already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Liza isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Liza and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
