Adopt Ljubica

Mixed Breed · Female

Ljubica is a lovely little couch potato. She used to be a stray in Macedonia and was brought to a public shelter for spaying and vaccination – after that she was supposed to be released again to the hard life in the streets. But when she tested positive for Leishmania her life was at risk because she could not be released and euthanasia is part of the shelter protocol in cases like this. Luckily a private shelter took her in and recently she was offered a foster home in the UK. This little nugget of gold is great with people – she charms everyone she meets and loves children. In fact she is a genuine lapdog! She gets on wonderfully with other dogs of all sizes. She does seem to have a high prey drive and shows a very intense interest in the parrots in her foster home, so she needs a home without any smaller pets. She is a young, playful girl and her family should be prepared to invest time to educate and stimulate her physically as well as mentally. Her leishmaniosis is well managed and has recently shown to have become inactive. Little Ljubica loves going for walks, meeting people, and she really loves her food. However, she still needs to learn some manners around human food as she tends to try and steal it, but she’s improving in that area. Although Ljubica loves company, she also appreciates her own space and will often retreat to her safe space for a nap and some alone time. This sweet baby will make a great addition to any family. Spayed, microchipped and fully vaccinated.

About Ljubica

What life with Ljubica looks like

Ljubica is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Strays Without Borders in Skopje.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇲🇰Adopting from North Macedonia

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ljubica, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ljubica?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Strays Without Borders handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ljubica on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ljubica if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Strays Without Borders will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ljubica already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ljubica isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Strays Without Borders early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ljubica and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
