Łobuz

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 6 months

Łobuz is a large, beautiful and extremely intelligent dog who really needs a new beginning. He is about 6 years old, although his history makes him seem much more experienced in life. He came to us after the death of his owner. He spent his whole life on the property, guarding it and having no proper contact with the world or people. He was perceived as an aggressive dog, but over time it turned out that his reactions are mainly due to great fear. Łobuz is afraid of humans and touch. Any attempt at closer contact is difficult and stressful for him, although he is making small progress. With treats, he can open up and learn very quickly, which shows his great potential. However, he requires not only training work, but above all patience, calmness and consistency. This is a dog that currently needs a lot of attention and a conscious approach. We are looking for an experienced caregiver or someone willing to work with a behaviorist, who will take on long-term work and give him time to build trust. Łobuz is not an easy dog, but he is a valuable dog. In the right hands, he has a chance to open up and show his loyalty and dedication. He just needs a person who will understand his fears and not give up on him halfway.

PL·Show original

About Łobuz

What life with Łobuz looks like

Łobuz is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Łobuz, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Łobuz?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Łobuz on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Łobuz if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Łobuz already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Łobuz isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Łobuz and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
