Adopt Locky

Male · Adult · 4 years

Locky is a loving dog who initially came in for social boarding. Unfortunately, his owner eventually decided to permanently entrust him to us, as they were unable to manage him on a daily basis. Adopted for over a year, Locky is unfortunately back at the shelter. He has difficulties managing frustration, especially in situations of restraint. The incident that led to his return occurred when he was grabbed by the collar, which created a trigger. Since then, special attention has been given to implementing a more respectful communication and appropriate alternatives. Despite this, Locky is a dog who deeply loves humans. He is a very "chill" dog on a daily basis, showing affection and attachment. On walks, Locky is making great progress. Interactions with cars and other dogs are going better and better, especially when his attention is captured with treats. Cyclists remain more difficult for him and will require appropriate supervision. In case of significant stress on a walk, Locky may try to escape the situation by turning around and pulling strongly to go back. He will therefore need someone capable of accompanying him with confidence and reading his emotions. When he feels safe, Locky shows a completely different side: he becomes playful, loves to run to burn off energy, and particularly enjoys "fight" games, always in a setting he knows and with people he trusts.

About Locky

What life with Locky looks like

Locky is a adult dog waiting at Perwez) in Sans Collier.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Frequently asked

Adopting Locky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Locky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Perwez) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Locky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Locky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Perwez) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Locky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Locky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Perwez) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Locky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
