Lois

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Female · Adult · 8 years

Our precious Lois is currently in a foster home due to not coping in the kennels. This has given us a rare opportunity to assess her behaviour first hand in a home environment! As you can imagine, her fosterer has confirmed that her behaviour is typical of an older staffie, she loves her walks, wants to be with you all the time and is a bit of a couch potato! Lois struggles to control her behaviour around dogs so unfortunately will need to wear a muzzle while out and about on walks just to give her handler control if an off lead dog were to surprise her, but please don't judge her, she's the sweetest girl and such a softie! She simply needs someone that can see past her occasional struggles with dogs and see her for the princess she is! Lois absolutely loves to be with her family so is hoping for a home where she will not need to be left for long periods. Due to her sometimes boisterous affections she would also be suited to a home with slightly older children. Staff are here to ensure the animals find homes which suit their needs. Most animals in our care have not had the best start in life and may require special care or training. We will assess your experience and assist you in finding the right pet for your home. Although we want to start their new life with you as quickly as possible, our re-homing process can take a few weeks from start to finish. The process is as follows:

About Lois

What life with Lois looks like

Lois is a medium-sized adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at RSPCA Danaher Animal Home in Braintree.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lois, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lois?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Danaher Animal Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lois on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lois if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Danaher Animal Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lois already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lois isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Danaher Animal Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lois and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
