Adopt Loki

, FAX -24DI - FR , SA 10 - 13 Uhr _Slider 350 © Tine Steinthaler Intelligent, unabhängig, selbstbewusst und clever. I are Loki, and my life didn't start off beautifully. I was severely mistreated and as a result, I lost my sight in one eye. Some scars are visible – others run deeper. But despite everything, I have managed to preserve one thing: my hope. And my great love for humans. I am a trusting, friendly, and lively dog. I want to please, learn, and explore the world with my human partner. Working with my head is a real joy for me, and I practice walking on a long leash every day – each day I become a little more secure. Meeting other dogs is still challenging for me at the moment. Sometimes I go too forward because I still need to learn how to handle such situations. But I am trying – I carry my muzzle very naturally and obediently. I love humans very much and bond quickly and intensely. That's why the stress in the animal shelter hits me particularly hard. The unrest, the many impressions – all of this often overloads me. What I wish for is simple yet so great: a home. A safe place. People where I can finally belong. My new humans should be steadfast, because sometimes I forget how strong I am in my excitement and energy. Children or other animals, like cats, dogs, or small pets, should not live in the household, as I am also hunting-motivated. I am looking for breed-experienced people with patience, heart, and time – people who will give me peace, continue training with me, and show me that life can also be beautiful. A quiet, more rural home would greatly help me to settle down. Maybe you are exactly the person I have been waiting for so long. If you would like to meet me, I would be happy to arrange a time. I promise you: behind my one eye lies a big heart. 🐾💛 Your donation is used appropriately and frugally. Please support us with the purchase of food donations! Address and how you can best find us. Manche Narben sieht man – andere sitzen tiefer. About Loki

What life with Loki looks like

Loki is a large senior american staffordshire terrier dog waiting at TIKO Tierschutzkompetenzzentrum in Klagenfurt.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: One-eyed (lost sight in one eye due to abuse), requires muzzle for dog encounters, needs quiet rural environment

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Loki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Loki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. TIKO Tierschutzkompetenzzentrum handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Loki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Loki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — TIKO Tierschutzkompetenzzentrum will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Loki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Loki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with TIKO Tierschutzkompetenzzentrum early rather than rehoming privately; they know Loki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
