Panter

American Staffordshire Terrier · Male · 2 years

"Sensitive Companion" Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier Date of Birth: Jan. 2019 Children in the same household: no Home sought: in the countryside, without children, without other animals, experience with dogs that have grown up being low-reactive, an advantage The 2019-born American Staffordshire Terrier male dog Panter requires a trial period to build trust, then he is friendly and energetic. However, Panter has not learned much in his previous life. He was kept in a cellar and seized. Isolated from the outside world in his past, he begins to catch up on the first things at our shelter in small steps. He already knows the harness, leash, and muzzle. Due to his past, other dogs/animals do not belong to his friends. As he has not learned much in his previous life, he is seeking a home in the countryside. His home should be quiet and childless so that he can also relax. For Panter, we are seeking a home without other animals. People who are interested in Panter must be willing to get to know him over a longer period of time (patronage with adoption, support from our trainers). At the animal shelter, he bit the food pouch attached to his body, as food has a high value for him. For this reason, Panter can only be placed under the following conditions: – Own "dog room" with secure door – Muzzle flap through which the muzzle can be attached before entering the room – Direct contact with people (including trusted people)

About Panter

What life with Panter looks like

Panter is a small adult american staffordshire terrier dog waiting at Tierschutz Austria in Vienna.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Panter, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Panter?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Austria handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Panter on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Panter if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Austria will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Panter already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Panter isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Austria early rather than rehoming privately; they know Panter and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
