Loki

Male

Hallo, I am Loki. Together with my siblings Lexi and Luis, I came to the animal shelter. We were three little wildlings who knew neither indoor life nor human interaction. Accordingly, everything was foreign and unfamiliar to us. Fortunately, we were able to move to a very loving foster home. There, with a lot of patience, love, and affection, we were shown that humans can be something really great and that petting is actually something beautiful. And me? Well, it was pretty quick to figure out how to win my little cat heart. With food! No matter if a tasty snack or a particularly fine treat - if there's something to eat, I'm right there. My foster mom even thinks that I might be the one who secretly storms the kitchen whenever something edible is around. But what can I say? I just know how to appreciate good food! And this little weakness also helps me to gain more trust. While I'm enthusiastically busy with my treats, a stroking hand can now also join in. So I'm slowly learning how nice it can be to be close to people. Although I've already made great progress, I'm still a bit skittish. My sister Lexi is especially important to me. We give each other support and security and want to spend our future lives together. For our forever home, we wish for loving people who meet us with patience and understanding and give us the time we need. Since we're both still a bit skittish, we should also stay in the house for a longer time before we can eventually discover the world outside. I've already learned so much and I'm excited to see what life has in store for me. And with my sister Lexi by my side, we will definitely make many more great progress. Maybe Lexi and I can find our forever home with you - with lots of love, patience, and of course some particularly tasty treats?

DE·Show original

About Loki

What life with Loki looks like

Loki is a adult cat waiting at Tierheim Montabaur in Montabaur.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Loki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Loki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Montabaur handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Loki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Loki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Montabaur will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Loki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Loki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Montabaur early rather than rehoming privately; they know Loki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
