Loki

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

This lovely boy is 1 year old Loki 🐾. He’s a loving, playful GSP/spaniel cross and he needs a new home. If you are interested in helping him, please email us, or send us a message. Loki was found as a stray pup and taken to the vets. His family had recently lost their beloved dog, so when no owners were found, they adopted him. He’s an affectionate boy who loves human company. He likes to bring everyone arriving to the house a toy or slipper. He is great with all people and lives with an 8 and 10 year old. He’s really good with children but jumps up and gets overexcited sometimes. He’s great with other dogs- though he can be too playful for some. He loves snuggling up on the sofa. He has free roam of the house and overnight he sleeps in his mam & dad’s bedroom. They work shifts, so he can do this for a lot of his day too. Loki loves human company so much that he doesn’t like being left alone. He barks, howls and paces if left. Due to shift work and neighbours hearing him barking, he doesn’t get left more than about 30 minutes - he usually has a sitter if the family need to leave him. With work and family commitments, his family feel they can’t give him enough time to help him learn to be more independent. Neighbours have also reported the barking to their rental company, so his family worry about what could happen if it continues. They have therefore made the hard and sad decision to rehome him. Loki hasn’t had much exposure to cats. He’s walked past those that he’s seen, so he could possibly learn to live with cats. He’s had little exposure to livestock. He travels ok in he car but cries sometimes. Loki had learned some commands, and has some whistle recall. He doesn’t go off lead because he gets distracted. He walks in a figure of eight lead, and a harness. He goes running with his dad and still has energy to spare 😊. Loki is a healthy, active boy. He has a tiny umbilical hernia that his vets said did not need removing. He eats biscuits and wet food, and has previously been on a raw diet. Loki is currently in Kent. If you think you could give this boy his forever home, where you can continue to work on his general training and separation anxiety, then please email us on . Loki will be rehomed with Agria 5 weeks insurance, under our Adoption Contract and GSP Rescue UK terms and conditions apply. © GSP Rescue UK 2016–2026 GSP Rescue UK is a working name of German Shorthaired Pointer Trust, a Registered Charity in England & Wales No. 1172457

About Loki

What life with Loki looks like

Loki is a very small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at GSP Rescue UK in United Kingdom.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Loki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Loki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. GSP Rescue UK handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Loki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Loki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — GSP Rescue UK will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Loki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Loki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with GSP Rescue UK early rather than rehoming privately; they know Loki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
