Loky

American Bully · Male · Young · 1 year

Under his tough-guy build, Loky is a sensitive young American Bully, very affectionate and close to his human. He arrived at the shelter due to cohabitation issues and a lack of time from his previous owners. Since he was 7 months old, he hadn’t left his cage and lived unhappily between his cage and an outside space, without stimulation or socialization. He’s a real stick-in-the-mud who loves games and cuddle time, but can be jealous and appreciates exclusivity. Clean and non-destructive according to his former owners, he spent his absences in his cage. The management of his solitude will need to be gradually reworked. He needs a clear, stable, and reassuring framework. Upon arrival, his lack of experience with the outside world made him nervous and very excitable (vocalizations, reactions to the environment). It’s likely that he played a lot with ropes or pull toys. As soon as an object ends up in his mouth, the automatic response is immediate: he pulls with all his strength, putting all his energy and power into it. Thanks to the work done at the shelter, he has made significant progress: he no longer barks unnecessarily, he has learned to walk on a leash and lead, and now channels his frustration through a toy. Without his toy, Loky redirects to the leash, and in certain contexts, could risk redirecting with pinches. More work remains to be done so that he can thrive in a family environment. Regarding other animals (dogs, cats, horses, cows…), they greatly pique his curiosity. Even if interactions should be tested at his pace, a placement where he will be the only quadruped in the house is preferable. For children, we will avoid the younger ages as Loky can sometimes be a bit brusque. Loky is a young dog full of potential, but he has missed out on everything. With adoptive parents patient, invested, and ready to offer him a coherent framework, this loyal dog has everything it takes to become an excellent companion.

FR·Show original

About Loky

What life with Loky looks like

Loky is a young adult american bully dog waiting at Perwez) in Sans Collier.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Frequently asked

Adopting Loky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Loky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Perwez) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Loky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Loky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Perwez) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Loky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Loky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Perwez) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Loky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
