Lolo

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Mixed breed Lolo is a character. He is looking for an experienced home with patience and heart. Mixed breed Lolo is a roughly 4-year-old male dog who originally comes from Spain and has been living in Germany for quite some time now. During this time, he has made great developmental progress and has become a loyal, affectionate companion - to the people he trusts. Lolo loves his attachment figures very much, shows affection and adapts well to them in daily life. In a pack, Lolo really blossoms: he now walks steadily and calmly with a group of four other dogs, which would have been unthinkable just a short time ago. Also in new situations, he is increasingly easier to guide - he has become more approachable and clearly shows that he accepts help from humans. At the beginning, this was hardly possible and is a big step forward. However, what Lolo still finds difficult is strangers. Here, he still reacts very impulsively, sometimes with loud screaming and defensive behavior - and unfortunately not always predictable. While he ignores some people at first meeting, he can completely overreact the next time. This became particularly clear during veterinary visits: while the first vaccination was possible with much sensitivity, he panicked at the second appointment. Therefore, we are looking for a home for Lolo with experienced, confident people without children who can accept his behavior - and want to. People who enjoy working further with him, give him time and do not pressure him. A quiet environment with a securely fenced garden would be ideal. Lolo is not a beginner's dog - but a wonderful dog for people who recognize his sensitive side, can read his language and are willing to continue giving him security and structure. He rewards it with deep bonding and great loyalty. Here you can see Lolo's video.

About Lolo

What life with Lolo looks like

Lolo is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lolo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lolo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lolo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lolo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lolo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lolo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lolo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
