Lolo

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 11 years

A dog is a family member and not an old t-shirt. Anyone who gets a puppy must know that even the fittest, healthiest fur ball will eventually become a senior, with the same problems and limitations as people experience in old age. Most dog owners walk the path with their loyal friend from the first to the last day and would never think of abandoning him precisely during the final stage—unfortunately, Lolo did not have such owners. Lolo is an 11-year-old (as of 09/2021) Foxterrier mix who has been living with a foster family in Seville for several months. The dog was found on the street, where the almost blind and hard-of-hearing survivor was looking for food. Residents told the animal protectors that Lolo had been abandoned by his family because they did not want such a boring, old, sick dog. If someone manages to simply put such a helpless being on the street, we don't have to think long about how empathetic these people are. Lolo was doomed to die, but he survived weeks and months—despite his mentioned disabilities and also being positive for leishmaniasis—a remarkable proof of his will to live. Since Lolo has been living in the foster home, getting good food and simply being loved, he has recovered very well. He is a lovable and affectionate companion who can still be quite funny and loves calm walks through the neighborhood, where he can exchange the latest gossip and rumors with four-legged friends. We know it would border on a miracle if Lolo were to find a real home where he could enjoy his golden years in peace—but we have already seen such miracles happen, and our grandfathers and grandmothers often had many beautiful years left. Special people look for special dogs, and Lolo is truly a special super-lovable grandpa who can still bring a smile to anyone's face with great pleasure.

About Lolo

What life with Lolo looks like

Lolo is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lolo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lolo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lolo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lolo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lolo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lolo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lolo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
