Loon

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Loon came as a puppy to Germany and now sadly must be given up due to separation Loon exudes boundless energy and curiosity – a true whirlwind with a heart of gold. With his current approximate weight of 18 kg and shoulder height of about 56 cm, he fits perfectly with active people who are looking for fun, movement, and adventure. Loon is alert, curious, and a bit feisty. He has already learned to sit, lie down, and shake hands but still has trouble walking properly on a leash. Loon likes to play with other dogs but is a bit cautious around people and needs time to build trust. He is not a big fan of water but goes for walks in nature very willingly. His favorite toy is one where he can also gnaw on it more. Once Loon has won your trust, he will run after you in the apartment/house and want to cuddle. He has not yet gathered much experience with small children, so he is afraid of them and may snap if they bother him. He chases cats when they move around outside. Loon is a lively fellow who wants to live life to the fullest. Loon is just about a year old and in the middle of puberty – with all that comes with it: temperament, enthusiasm, and the desire to conquer the world. For that, he needs a family who will lovingly accompany him, set boundaries, and show him what a beautiful, relaxed dog life means. Are you looking for a lively companion who enriches your life and goes through thick and thin with you? Loon is waiting at his foster home to meet you! Loon is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, not neutered, and brings his EU Companion Animal Certificate. Who will give Loon a life full of love? Thank you to Inga for taking over the nametag sponsorship. As of: 18.10.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Loon

What life with Loon looks like

Loon is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Loon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Loon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Loon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Loon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Loon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Loon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Loon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
