Lora &#8211

Mixed Breed · Female · Kitten · 4 months

I am female, neutered, vaccinated, and born around 2018. I have been waiting since the end of 2018 for a new home. My caretakers say about me: Lora is a regional found animal and came to our care with her kittens in late summer 2018. She has been lovingly raised, and all have found homes, except Lora. Since she is very reluctant to present herself to visitors, Lora has been overlooked so far. Actually, she is not really shy; once in the box, the handling and interaction are well manageable. Also, the handling with her puppies nearby was quite easy for us, as we are convinced she is not really shy at all. By now, one can approach her, and all daily tasks are closely observed by her. This situation, unfortunately, is not experienced by the visitor but shows us that it will be possible for a patient cat lover to win her trust. One needs appropriate patience, and experience with shy animals is advantageous. For a second home, Lora is wonderfully suited. We hope that Lora, despite or perhaps because of her unremarkable fur color, will find her people with us. Who would like to give Lora the chance to show that there is nothing to fear near her people?

About Lora &#8211

What life with Lora &#8211 looks like

Lora &#8211 is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lora &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lora &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lora &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lora &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lora &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lora &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lora &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
