Lord

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Lord – a loving young dog is searching for his Forever Home. Lord’s story begins with a small miracle: On April 1, 2025, he was born in a foster home, after his majestic mother Vaquita was safely brought out of the animal shelter. Only a few days later, Lord and his eight siblings saw the light of the world – protected by warmth, care, and human closeness. From the start, Lord experienced love, affection, and security. He developed into a curious, attached, and cheerful puppy who was open to people and other dogs. In May, Lord found his first home. For six happy months, he lived with a family, learned about routines, and grew into a young, lively dog. His family describes him as a wonderful companion who is friendly to other dogs and especially gentle and respectful towards children. Lord is playful, cuddly, and loves to be part of the daily routine. He is already house-trained and can also spend some time alone, although he sometimes cries a little at first. Currently, he weighs about 25 kilograms (as of November). Unfortunately, his family can no longer keep him for personal reasons – and there’s nothing Lord could have done about it. To avoid sending him back to the animal shelter, we hope he can stay temporarily while we find him a new, loving home. Lord is a young dog with a wonderful character, a loving nature, and a great start in life. He deserves a home that gives him stability, affection, and the chance for a happy future. If you would like to give Lord such a home, we are very pleased to hear from you. If interested, please contact his mediator!

About Lord

What life with Lord looks like

Lord is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lord, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lord?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lord on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lord if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lord already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lord isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lord and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
