Lord

Mixed Breed · Male

Description Our animal welfare workers report: In his first 18 months of life, Lord has experienced so much pain, fear, and loneliness that it could fill a long life. But he had an angel, who sent him from the small intake shelter in Craiova to the cruel killing station Breasta via our animal rescuer Paula. Regularly, she is on-site to save at least some souls from their execution and to pave the way to a happy life for them. Unfortunately, she can only take as many dogs as she has free spaces. No dog deserves to be at this place: in overcrowded cages, exposed to the elements without or with insufficient food and water, filled with despair and hopelessness. Precisely there, the little Lord crouched in the corner of his concrete death cell when he was discovered. All this darkness Lord met with love, gentleness, and his unshakeable belief in the good and managed to hold onto a glimmer of hope. Nothing is known about his earlier life. It is likely that Lord suffered the fate of many dogs in Romania, who were first acquired as farm dogs or for entertainment and then abandoned or killed when they fell ill, reached puberty, or were no longer wanted. His human-like nature suggests that he once had a home. At the intake shelter, Lord quickly showed his rescuer what a loving soul lies within him. Despite all the suffering he has endured, he is friendly, playful, curious, and full of joy. He loves the company of humans and is an active dog who gets along well with other dogs and cats. Lord wants to discover so much more, feel love, and finally find a place to belong. He needs people who value him, give him security, and show him the beautiful sides of life as a family dog. Who would like to give this special dog a life full of warmth, joy, and security and write a new chapter of happiness with him? He has earned it so much. About Lord

What life with Lord looks like

Lord is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lord, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lord?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lord on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lord if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lord already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lord isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lord and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
