adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Loretta has found a home! Her story: Zalau, Romania. Now it's time for a particularly charming Beagle lady, Loretta! Loretta arrived at our shelter because her previous owner, a breeder who kept her in the garden, no longer wanted her. Now, Loretta lives in a foster home in Romania and it's clear that she received little attention and love in her previous life. At our shelter, she's learning how wonderful it is to be stroked and cared for. She really enjoys it. Loretta is 4 years old, 38 cm tall, and weighs 16 kg. She is a small, manageable female Beagle. At home, she is a very even-tempered and quiet female dog. Most of the time, she sleeps or patiently waits for her food. Outdoors, she is full of energy, though not as strong as one would typically expect from a Beagle. She already walks on a leash very well. She learns quickly and especially enjoys treats, after which she becomes typically Beagle crazy. The Beagle is an intelligent companion dog, belonging to the hound group. It also counts as a family dog because Beagles maintain a harmonious and gentle relationship. They are attentive, vigilant, and can act independently and cleverly. Small animals should not live in the family, and there should be a willingness to properly address their hunting instincts. In a positively working dog training class, one can surely find a great hobby, such as tracking, dummy training, or obedience. This not only physically but also mentally challenges the Beagle. How the typical Beagle needs are met by Loretta will have to be discovered in her new home. As she shows herself to us, it could also be that she needs much less action. Loretta gets along well with her fellow animals. She lives with five other dogs, but she isn't particularly interested in them. She also has no problems with cats. Currently, four furred feet live in her foster home, and there are no issues. We are looking for people who can provide Loretta with a comfortable home according to her needs. If it fits, we can also consider her as a family dog. Loretta travels neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and flea-treated with her own EU pet passport in her luggage and against an adoption fee of 450 Euro to her new home. Of course, a positive foster home placement would also make Loretta very happy. Many thanks, Marita R.! You gave Loretta her perfect name.

Vielen Dank Marita R.! Du hast Loretta ihren passenden Namen geschenkt.

About Loretta

What life with Loretta looks like

Loretta is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Loretta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Loretta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Loretta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Loretta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Loretta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Loretta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Loretta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
