Lother

Male · 5 years

Lother is a loggerhead sea turtle that was found. We unfortunately do not know anything about his previous life or exact age, as he was likely abandoned. This species of sea turtle originally comes from Africa. While sea turtles ideally need a sufficiently large pond that should be at least 1.5 meters deep, it is also possible to keep them in an aquarium. For this, the minimum dimensions should be 150 x 60 x 60 cm. Additionally, there must be a land area with a UV lamp. The water temperature should be between 28°-34°C. Like land turtles, sea turtles prefer to live alone or with one to two other fellow animals. Of course, our animal caretakers will be happy to advise you. If you can provide Lother with a nice home, please feel free to contact our Exotic House or fill out the form below.

DE·Show original

About Lother

What life with Lother looks like

Lother is a large adult animal waiting at Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg in Berlin.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Lother far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

Note from the shelter: Requires specialized aquatic habitat with UV lighting, heated water (28-34°C), and minimum tank size 150x60x60cm or outdoor pond minimum 1.5m deep

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lother, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lother?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lother on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lother if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lother already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lother isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lother and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
