Lotta

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

We are always deliberately taking in three-legged dogs at Muhmenthal, simply because they are great and show us two-legged creatures that it is the small steps in life that count. So is our sweet Lotta. Our little mouse does this really well! Gstältli on and off it goes for a walk. Currently, she is still getting to know Muhmenthal in small, comfortable steps together with our care team and exploring everything at her own pace. Lotta is still very reserved, but she is warming up more and more. With each walk, each new encounter and each small success, she becomes a little bolder. And when a little break for cuddling is in between? She loves it! Of course, that is just as much a part of Lotta's life. We are happy to accompany her on her journey and take many small steps together with her. Fingers crossed, sweet Lotta.

About Lotta

What life with Lotta looks like

Lotta is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tiervermittlungen.ch in Elsau.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lotta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lotta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiervermittlungen.ch handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lotta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lotta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiervermittlungen.ch will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Lotta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lotta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiervermittlungen.ch early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lotta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
