Adopt Lotta

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 12 years

Did not get along with the family's child. (10 years or older) Athletic lady seeks equally athletic home. So, I moved into the animal shelter as a dream team with my buddy Percy. Back then, we had to change our living situation due to family growth. I was so annoyed by that little one that I would simply pee in the corner when I couldn't take it anymore. Percy has since found a new home, but I'm still looking. Here at the animal shelter, I immediately stopped peeing and know how to behave. I am excited about everything and everyone, smooch every face, and go wild with joy when it's finally time for a walk. I don't necessarily need other dogs around; I make that quite clear with some loud leash testing. I am neutered, know basic commands, am super house-trained, can be bribed with treats, and greet all two-legged beings with a big hello. I can also stay alone without messing up the place. What more does a human heart want? So, are you up for adventure, love exciting new impressions, and enjoy walking? Then I'm your type! Take the initiative quickly and adopt me. Sitting around is not really your thing, is it? :-) Animal adoptions are currently by appointment only. Therefore, we ask you to contact us in advance by phone at 05481 / 4146 or by email if you are interested in one of our animals.

Menschenherz, was willst du mehr? So.

About Lotta

What life with Lotta looks like

Lotta is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Tecklenburger Land in Lengerich.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lotta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lotta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Tecklenburger Land handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lotta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lotta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Tecklenburger Land will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lotta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lotta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Tecklenburger Land early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lotta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
