Adopt LOTTI

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

Estimated birth date: December 2018 Brief info: friendly, people-oriented, cuddly, gentle, more reserved, somewhat insecure, family-friendly, male dogs welcome, female dogs welcome LOTTI was estimated to have been born in December 2018 and came into the care of the shelter in March 2020 after being found homeless on the street and reported by attentive passersby. LOTTI shares the fate with several other little furballs who have yet to be noticed. Some dogs have been waiting years upon years in vain for their discovery, and with each passing year, their hope fades a little more. They have seen many other dogs – some even after a short time in the shelter – travel on, leaving them behind. But we do not give up hope that these wonderful four-legged friends will also be noticed by someone and given their chance at a few beautiful dog years. While the cute puppies or even smaller adorable dogs often catch your eye at first glance, these older and larger furballs often do not immediately stand out – despite their wonderful and lovable character traits. They too long for love, security, and their own true home, which many of you have never had the chance to experience. LOTTI is a rather reserved and very friendly and gentle female dog. She walks nicely on a leash but is a little insecure, especially with strangers. Once she has gained trust, she shows herself to be attentive, people-oriented, and cuddly. With her fellow animals, the charming LOTTI also gets along well and behaves rather reservedly than outgoing. The sweet LOTTI would actually fit into any household with good dog experience. She would love to experience what it is like to be loved and cuddled and to simply lead a normal, species-appropriate dog life. Perhaps after such a long time, someone will finally discover this loving dog lady – we do not give up hope at all. Due to her suspected mixed breed, LOTTI unfortunately cannot be rehomed to Germany but only to certain cantons in Switzerland (or to other countries without restrictions, such as Hungary). LOTTI will be neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and come with an EU pet passport for her new home. Has this charming little furball with her gentle nature captured your heart? Then we look forward to your message!

About LOTTI

What life with LOTTI looks like

LOTTI is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Pfotenretter Ungarn in Pfotenretter.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting LOTTI, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about LOTTI?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfotenretter Ungarn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw LOTTI on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt LOTTI if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfotenretter Ungarn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is LOTTI already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if LOTTI isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfotenretter Ungarn early rather than rehoming privately; they know LOTTI and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
