Loty

Female · Adult · 7 years

Good karma = good soul = Loty approved! Bom dia, I’m Loty (DOB 01.12.2018). I came to Mayday from the Municipal Kennel in Lagos deeply scared of people. And humans still make me nervous. I mean, come on, I am also small! But here’s my secret: I want love. I’m just still learning that it can be safe. Spend enough quiet time with me and little things happen: I’ll take treats from your hand, come closer and maybe even touch you. I’ve even been on walks with people I really trusted. For now, I feel safest in my area, where I also hold the boss position with Vincent and Nelson. I’m not a love-at-first-sight girl. I’m a love-you-worked-for-it girl. Patient human. Kind soul. No pressure. That’s my type. And in the end: if you have my approval, that means you’ve got a good soul and good karma!

About Loty

What life with Loty looks like

Loty is a small adult dog waiting at Mayday Algarve in Algarve.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇹Adopting from Portugal

Portuguese rescues coordinate extensively with European rescue networks for cross-border placements, especially for galgos and podencos. Sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID are standard. Adoption fees typically cover the full vet workup.

Frequently asked

Adopting Loty, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Loty?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Mayday Algarve handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Loty on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Loty if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Mayday Algarve will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Loty already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Loty isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Mayday Algarve early rather than rehoming privately; they know Loty and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
