It took some time for our rescue team to finally catch them, as they were a bit shy. But upon arriving at our Spanish partner shelter Triple A Marbella, they quickly settled in! Food, loving people, and safety helped them build trust quickly. In the first few days, they slept a lot to recover from the long period of wandering and uncertainty. Currently, they live together with an older Podenco female dog and enjoy the visits to the dog exercise areas very much. Louis loves to rummage through bushes and dig for rabbit or mouse burrows; should he be lucky enough to find a home with a garden, he could spend the whole day transforming it. He loves adventures and is always ready for a walk! Thelma & Louis have a close bond but are no longer dependent on each other. We can certainly consider Louis as a single dog – provided he has regular contact with other dogs, goes on social walks, and has the opportunity to form relationships and play with fellow animals. He could also fit well into a household with another dog; he feels more relaxed and comfortable in the company of female dogs than male dogs, even though he has so far shown social or neutral behavior towards all dogs. Louis is active on walks but can also relax and unwind in his run or on the sofa. We believe that he would lead a quiet life in the house if his exercise needs are met. Louis has already met many children in the animal shelter and greets all people kindly. He could also live in a home with older children; here, only the general level of unrest and stress in the household should be considered. As we do not yet know how Louis reacts to an urban environment, we are looking for a home for him in a natural setting for now. Es dauerte eine Weile, bis unser Rettungsteam sie endlich erwische,da sie sich etwas scheu verhielten. Doch als sie in unserem spanischen Partnertierheim Triple A Marbella ankamen, haben sie sich sehr schnell eingelebt! Futter, liebevolle Menschen und Sicherheit halfen ihnen, rasch Vertrauen zu fassen. In den ersten Tagen schliefen sie sehr viel, um sich von der langen Zeit des Umherirrens und der Ungewissheit zu erholen. Mittlerweile leben sie mit einer älteren Podenco-Hündin zusammen und genießen die Besuche auf Hundeauslaufflächen sehr. Louis liebt es, im Gebüsch zu stöbern und nach Kaninchen- oder Mäusebauten zu graben; sollte er das Glück haben, ein Zuhause mit Garten zu finden, könnte er den ganzen Tag damit verbringen, diesen umzugestalten. Er liebt Abenteuer und ist immer bereit für einen Spaziergang! Thelma & Louis haben zwar eine enge Bindung zueinander, sind aber nicht mehr voneinander abhängig. Wir können uns Louis durchaus auch als Einzelhund vorstellen – vorausgesetzt, er hat regelmäßigen Kontakt zu anderen Hunden, geht auf soziale Spaziergänge und hat Gelegenheit mit Artgenossen Beziehungen zu pflegen und zum Spielen. Er könnte aber auch sehr gut in einen Haushalt mit einem weiteren Hund ziehen; dabei fühlt er sich in Gesellschaft von Hündinnen entspannter und wohler als bei Rüden, auch wenn er sich bisher allen Hunden gegenüber sozial oder neutral verhalten hat. Louis ist beim Spazierengehen aktiv, kann aber auch gut zur Ruhe kommen und sich in seinem Zwinger oder auf dem Sofa entspannen. Wir glauben, dass er – sofern sein Bewegungsdrang gestillt wird – im Haus ein ruhiges Leben führen würde . Louis hat im Tierheim bereits viele Kinder kennengelernt und begegnet allen Menschen freundlich. Er könnte durchaus auch in einem Zuhause mit älteren Kindern leben; hierbei müsste lediglich auf das allgemeine Unruhe- und Stresslevel im Haushalt geachtet werden. Da wir noch nicht wissen, wie Louis auf ein städtisches Umfeld reagiert, suchen wir für ihn vorerst ein Zuhause in naturnaher Lage. Louis ist bei Ausreise kastriert, geimpft gechipt und besitzt einen EU-Heimtierausweis. Außerdem wird er auf Mittelmeerkrankheiten getestet sowie entwurmt und entfloht.
