Louis

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

Little Louis is the sweetest 10 year old small male Miniature Pinscher cross breed. Dogs 4 Rescue in Manchester are looking for a forever foster home for him where they will cover all of his medication, food and veterinary fees for the rest of his life. Louis has given so much love till now and deserves a loving and comfortable home where he will be spoilt rotten and cherished. Louis could live with another calm dog, or as an only dog but cannot live with cats. Children aged 16yrs and over would be fine too. Despite Louis' age he is full of life and personality, waking each morning with a spring in his step before he settles down to a more chilled and relaxing day ahead. His little funny moments of joy are evidence of just how much he is still loving life ! Louis just adores human company, is affectionate and will be your little shadow. He will need someone around for much of the day as he prefers not be left on his own and may become anxious and destructive. This is down to his doggy dementia from which many older dogs suffer. Louis does have several other age-related medical conditions. He has hypothyroidism and some age-related pain. Following a road traffic accident before he was rescued in Cyprus, he has a pin in his hip, so he is on long-term medication to keep him comfortable. Because of the old injury to his hip, Louis has a slightly unusual gait. and whilst he can currently manage stairs, he does sometimes need a little carry up. Like many senior dogs, his health is gradually declining. He is also beginning to lose his sight and hearing, which means sudden movements can startle him. Louis just loves his food and a pocket full of treats will make him a very happy boy ! Louis loves people but can become frightened if someone suddenly grabs him by his collar, and he may bite in that situation. Understanding his body language and handling him gently will be important. This wonderful little chap is looking for someone very special to open up their heart and to love and cherish him for the rest of his life. About Louis

What life with Louis looks like

Louis is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at The Oldies Club in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Louis, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Louis?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Oldies Club handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Louis on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Louis if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Oldies Club will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Louis already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Louis isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Oldies Club early rather than rehoming privately; they know Louis and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
