LOWIE

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

Lowie is a friendly Border Collie who loves walks. He is sociable with other dogs but has unpredictable behavior around children. Loud noises like machinery (drills, lawn mowers) and the commotion of a family with children trigger stress reactions in Lowie. This stress has led to situations where Lowie has bitten/pinched. Most of the time Lowie lives in the garden. In the evening and at night, he has a separate place in the house where he eats and sleeps. Since the biting/pinching incidents, Lowie has not been taken on walks. According to the current owners, Lowie is not interested in tug-of-war games or intellectual games (thinking games). A behavioral therapist worked on Lowie's behavior (bites, pinches) but it did not provide the desired result. Given his behavior, the fact that he must be separated from children and visitors, and that he is not interested in the activities offered, Lowie's owners have asked BorderLineCollie to find him another family. He was born on a farm. Lowie knows basic commands and is not used to dog crates. He gets car sick and does not want to be transported. The last time it was tried, he bit. Now he is afraid when he sees cars on the street. Lowie met sheep twice. According to the owner, Lowie was enthusiastic. People who visited BLC describe Lowie as a calm Border Collie and did not detect any stress signals. These people also encouraged Lowie to react, but he did not show any stress behavior. For Lowie, BorderLineCollie is looking for an adoptive family willing to offer an active life to discover the activities he enjoys. An adoptive family that is able to 'read' and 'understand' the signals that Lowie emits. The transportation problem must also be addressed correctly.

FR·Show original

About LOWIE

What life with LOWIE looks like

LOWIE is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Border Line Collie in borderlinecollie.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting LOWIE, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about LOWIE?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Border Line Collie handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw LOWIE on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt LOWIE if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Border Line Collie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is LOWIE already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if LOWIE isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Border Line Collie early rather than rehoming privately; they know LOWIE and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
