Adopt Lucho

Female

The boy with the biggest smile and the curliest tail! Lucho was brought to us by the local municipality. He was picked up as a stray and as usual, no microchip and no one came forward to claim him. What has impressed us about this sweet dog is how quickly he adjusted to life at the sanctuary and how well he gets on with other dogs. Especially if they are playful and like a good bitey-face session! Even though Lucho was un-neutered when he came to us, he is happy to hang out with both male and female dogs of all descriptions. But his favourite friends are Snow and Indie who will play with him for hours, chewing on each others legs and ears. He’s very happy for the girls to be in charge, just as long as they keep on playing! For the first day or two Lucho was a little unsure of us humans but that changed very quickly. He’s now friendly and affectionate, even with new people. Although, given the choice he will choose to play with a doggy friend. He would love a home with another resident, playful dog. This isn’t a must though, he’d also be happy as an only dog, meeting his friends in the park.

About Lucho

What life with Lucho looks like

Lucho is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at SPDC Cyprus in Limassol.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇾Adopting from Cyprus

Cypriot rescues focus heavily on cross-border placements (the island has more strays than local adopters). Animals are fully vetted before flying. The adopter pays the transport, while the shelter coordinates vaccinations, chipping, and the passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lucho, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lucho?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPDC Cyprus handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lucho on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lucho if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPDC Cyprus will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lucho already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lucho isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPDC Cyprus early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lucho and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
