LUCIO

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 9 months

Estimated birth date: August 2025 Brief info: friendly, people-oriented, cuddly, adventurous, curious, active, family-friendly, male dogs+, female dogs+ LUCIO was estimated to have been born in August 2025 and was brought to the animal shelter in mid-February 2026 by a man and his two sons, along with his two presumed sisters, Loretta and Lindsay. They claimed to have found the three young puppies, almost still puppies, on the street. However, the shelter staff had the impression that the dogs were somehow familiar with the people, and so there is a suspicion that the dogs were likely surrendered by their own owners, who probably had an unplanned litter. Whatever the truth may be – the puppy children were not abandoned and now have the great chance to find a wonderful home. The charming LUCIO is open, friendly, and cuddly. On the leash, he runs happily and responds well to being called. Of course, he still needs to learn the full dog 1×1, but he is young and will surely try his best to do everything right. He will definitely have a lot of fun with all kinds of adventures, because he is curious and adventurous. He also gets along well with other dogs, not just his sisters. For the sweet LUCIO, we are looking for adventurous people with dog experience who are willing to embark on the "puppy" adventure – with everything that comes with it: playing, snuggling, toiling, but of course also a consistent and loving upbringing. Due to his suspected mixed breed, LUCIO unfortunately cannot be rehomed to Germany but only to certain cantons in Switzerland (or to other countries without restrictions, such as Hungary). LUCIO will move to his new home microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and with an EU pet passport. Has the people-oriented lad captured your heart? Then we look forward to your message!. This is a young, adolescent dog.

About LUCIO

What life with LUCIO looks like

LUCIO is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Pfotenretter Ungarn in Pfotenretter.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting LUCIO, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about LUCIO?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfotenretter Ungarn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw LUCIO on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt LUCIO if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfotenretter Ungarn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is LUCIO already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if LUCIO isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfotenretter Ungarn early rather than rehoming privately; they know LUCIO and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
