adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Lucky has found his home! His story: Sometimes a name is more than just a word—it can be a wish. For our little Lucky, it especially holds true: His name means "be happy," and that's exactly what we wish for him—in the form of a loving home that will take him in and never let him go. The golden mini-mixed-breed male dog is about 10 to 12 months old, slender-built, and weighs only about 10 kg. With a shoulder height of around 30 to 35 cm, he has the perfect small size to easily slip into every heart—and every sofa. His longer rust-brown fur, fringed ears, and bushy ringlet give him the final touch of cuteness. Lucky was found alone on a parking lot— in a condition that was far from good. He is currently suffering from severe skin problems, which are likely caused by fleas—likely a result of the poor living conditions in the past. He is already being treated by a veterinarian, and we are very optimistic that he will fully recover and also grow his fur back. For a quick recovery, however, a quiet and stress-free environment is crucial—something that a Romanian shelter unfortunately cannot provide. Our Lucky is a truly lovable, friendly, and trusting dog. He delights in even the smallest gestures—some time and attention really do him good. Cuddles also mean a lot to him, and he seeks contact with humans without being pushy. Lucky lives in a pen with a female and several other male dogs and gets along well with all of them. Whether he also likes cats, we unfortunately cannot test at the shelter. Young Lucky still has a lot to learn and needs to gradually adapt to life in the house. From house training to leash training, to relaxing when nothing exciting happens—this all requires time and understanding guidance. Additionally, he is currently going through puberty with all its small and big challenges. During this phase, he should be given extra patience and orientation. Even though his little legs are short, Lucky will have a lot of fun with movement. Walks, small activities, and joint play sessions should have the same place in his daily routine as ample cuddle time. Who will make our wonderful Lucky into a real happy dog? A foster home would also greatly help him. Many thanks to Battleground Animal Aid for taking over his nametag sponsorship. As of: 27.06. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Stand: 27.06.2025

About Lucky

What life with Lucky looks like

Lucky is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lucky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lucky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lucky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lucky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lucky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lucky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lucky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
