Adopt Lucky

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Primary vaccination + Rabies Lucky is looking for his forever home. Our beautiful Lucky is just about 1.5 years old (born 26.11.2024), approximately 45 cm tall and weighs around 10 kg – a delicate, young male dog with a very special story. He was found in winter – alone on a cemetery, completely underweight and in very poor condition. It is hardly imaginable what this loving dog has already experienced. But Lucky has fought his way back into life and shows every day how much love is in him. Today he is: affectionate, playful, friendly towards people, social with other dogs (currently lives peacefully with a male dog). Lucky is a Croatian Shepherd, so a clever, active companion who enjoys people who give him time, exercise, and lots of affection. He has not had any contact with cats yet – a test is possible if it is important. After everything he has been through, we wish a home for Lucky where he can belong – forever, with people who will never leave him again. A warm basket, loving hands, and a heart that beats only for him. Who will give this wonderful young man his happy ending? Or a foster home? If you are seriously interested, please fill out our self-assessment form and submit an inquiry for Lucky. Become a godparent for Lucky.

About Lucky

What life with Lucky looks like

Lucky is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ankerhunde e.V. in Novi Grad.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇦Adopting from Bosnia and Herzegovina

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lucky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lucky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ankerhunde e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lucky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lucky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ankerhunde e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lucky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lucky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ankerhunde e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lucky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
