Lucy

Podenco · Female · Senior · 9 years

Little Lucy was sadly left in a dog hotel Royfonte, and once the owner of the hotel passed away, the people inheriting the place, brought the dogs that stayed behind, to the shelter. When we investigated Lucy's microchip and details in the system, then it seems that her previous human passed away, maybe while she was in the dog hotel, and she stayed living there. She is now very much a senior, and the shelter is not a place for seniors and vulnerable dogs. You would never guess that Lucy is already 12 years old, we all thought she was much younger! She is a small size Podenco-type of a girl, really calm but at the same time mobile and active. She is always so happy to see humans, every volunteer, every child, all are friends for Lucy! She loves to go for walks and to wonder around with you in the dog parks. She might be a senior but she has a soul of a young dog, ready to live the life ahead of her still. Lucy is a 10/10 in everything she does - she drives well in the car, walks calmly past other people, dogs, children, food places. During her day out on the beach, she introduced herself to a group of gentlemen and asked for immediate snuggles. She behaves well in a restaurant, and is just a polite, pleasant companion for your everyday life. Lucy loves the beach itself, just that the loud waves are a bit too scary for her. She is looking for a home, where she could spend the rest of her years loved by her human, her family. Lucy is very flexible in terms of living arrangements, she would be happy in an apartment, in a house, a bigger family with children, or with one human to love. Lucy could live both on the countryside or in a town, she is very flexible! At the moment she is living by herself in the shelter, and we have not specifically tested her with other dogs yet, but we could imagine that she could live together with another calm male for example. Dog testing will be done upon request. Her shoulder height is just 40cm, she is a petite girl, and she seems to be fit and healthy, form what we can see!

About Lucy

What life with Lucy looks like

Lucy is a small senior podenco dog waiting at Triple A Marbella in Marbella.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lucy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lucy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Triple A Marbella handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lucy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lucy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Triple A Marbella will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lucy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lucy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Triple A Marbella early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lucy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
