adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Luggi has found a home! His story: Luggi is a friendly, gentle, and trusting Yorkshire Terrier and is approximately 11 years old, about 30 cm tall, weighs 4.5 kg, and has a heart full of love for people. He is clingy, cuddly, and enjoys every bit of attention. Luggi is house-trained, loves being outside, and can easily wear a leash and harness, as he is used to it. He gets along well with other dogs and cats but has a special affection for people and would like to be near them all the time. Luggi has a touching story: His owner became ill, and the family could no longer take care of him. They brought him to our helper Lavi, who runs a small dog boarding facility, hoping to temporarily house him. Unfortunately, the owner passed away just two months later – and the family wanted to place Luggi in a village outside Zalau, where he would have had to live outside with chickens. Lavi took him in with love and gave him a home that offers safety and care. Luggi is a small senior with special needs: He was diagnosed with epilepsy in the past but only had one seizure since living with Lavi. He takes a medication (Fenobarbital 50 mg) only as a precaution – otherwise, he is healthy, active, and full of joy. Luggi needs a loving home where he can continue to be close to his people and where his special needs will be understood. He is an uncomplicated, well-socialized dog who conquers the hearts of his people with ease. Luggi travels vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and flea-treated, and with his own pet ID card, to his new home. He will be placed with you if you provide him with a loving home. This little dog has seen a lot, but deserves many more years full of love, security, and safety. Many thanks, Chantal! You named Luggi! Date: 05.11.

Vielen Dank Chantal! Du hast Luggi seinen Namen geschenkt! Stand: 05.11.2025

About Luggi

What life with Luggi looks like

Luggi is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luggi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luggi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luggi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luggi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Luggi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luggi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luggi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
